Shamelessly ... some of my favorite moments 'to brag on':

On Mexico trip - February 2006 - with Connie from GA, Connie from FL & Jackie - posing with Grady - who had just received a brand new guitar - 'Willemina' - that was given to him by Willy Nelson.

In Mexico (having a 'bad hair day') - with Chicago Artist - Joe Hindley - showing off the painting that I bought ... and the pencil sketch that Joe did - and gave to me.

Having a better hair day - when I bought the painting 'Bloody Chica's' - from Joe Hindley
In Las Vegas - February 2007 - after the Penn & Teller Show - meeting my 'Step Nephew-in-Law' - Penn.

With 'wind-swept hair' (lovely - ha ha) - in Chicago with 'The Senior Bachelor' - Richard Roe

With Video Crew at the Leech Lake Reservation in Minnesota - after interviewing Dennis Banks - head of the Native American Indian Movement ... and amazing leader in the Ojibwe Tribe.

With colleague (Keith) and Jon Voigt - at the Florida Holocaust Museum fundraiser in Tampa - February 2005

Our entire Show Crew and the head of our company with Charles Durning and Jon Voigt - at the Florida Holocaust Museum event.

Just being silly ... and having fun posting old and new photos of 'famous people' that I've met or worked with. At work this past week - we were talking about all of the interesting people we have worked with over the years. I was sharing that I never had photos taken - because I just always felt it wasn't appropriate - because we were 'working' - and some of these people just were always surrounded by fans - and it somehow seemed like a bigger intrusion when we also wanted photos. But ... now ... I sometimes wish I had done it ... just for the memories.

And one little regret - is that when I left a production company where I worked - I left behind a little poloroid that we had taped to one of the light boxes - of me on a pommel horse - with Olympic Gold Medalist, Peter Vidmar, doing a hand stand on the same pommel horse.

I didn't want my photo taken - but everyone kept telling me to do it - and Peter was standing there ... and it was a bit embarrassing. Finally - jokingly - I said I'd do it if I could sit on the pommel horse. He quickly pulled me over - and I sat on it - and, to my surprise, he gracefully sprung onto the pommel horse - next to me - and did a beautiful hand stand. Great shot! Wish I had it. : )

Anyway ... just fun stuff ... for a lazy Saturday afternoon.

Feel free to share your stories of 'famous people' in your life.

Enjoy,

Brenda (not so famous) aka Click Girl

Brenda you crack me up.
I hope your having a very relaxing weekend. I am just getting home from a very late night at work.
Tomorrow / today actually is my youngest's 24th birthday. So we will have a bbq in the afternoon. After I go riding my motorcycle. Ah, 2 days off.

Famous people. A lot of them. From politicians, actors, musicians, etc. Just the nature of previous jobs. No pictures mostly. I played by the rules. No autographs either. I gave too many.

LOVE the photos, Brenda! I'm like you in that I hesitate to ask for a photo, but later regret it. So glad you got some, though. Start asking - what's the worst that can happen? They say, "no" so you shrug and move on. :D

Thanks for stopping by!

I know! I have so many people that I wish I had photos of - NOW! Glad I'm not the only one that was that way. In earlier years - truth be told - I thought I was 'too good' to ask for photos. Like - why would I 'belittle' myself by asking for that - because I was as good as they were. But now - it just would be fun to have them. Not that I'm not still as 'good as them' (ha ha) - but I guess I have more of an appreciation for what it takes to achieve the kind of fame that makes you a household name (after seeing what my niece and her husband have gone through) - and there is some kind of achievement in having worked with people who have reached that level in their careers. And ... it sure makes it fun to be able to 'show off' (ha ha).

Anyway ... it's all in good fun. : )

Here's a funny 'famous person story' - sort of. And this is wild - because I was actually thinking about this guy who is 'famous' - earlier tonight. He is Freddy Travelina - and I honestly had never heard of him - when I worked with him. Years ago - one of my Clients said that Freddy Travelina was going to perform at their event (I guess he just goes by 'Fred' now - but it was 'Freddy' back then - in the 80's). He had been on all of the late night talk shows ... and was, apparently, a well known stand up comic. I wasn't impressed ... because - remember - I was as good as him (ha ha).

Anyway - we received the band rider - and had to get all of these special mics, and music stands with special lights, and all kinds of extra stuff that we normally didn't have to deal with. Part of the rider - for Freddy - was a list of things like (my 'favorite') - a large broom with a 3-4' handle, black bristles and it had to be the professional kind that is used by janitors - that could be pushed. Now I couldn't figure out why a comic would need a big broom ... and my P.A. wasn't arriving until later ... and I really (really) didn't want to be bothered with taking care of that. But ... there was no one else to do it ... so I was stuck with it.

Unfortunately, I ran out of time before leaving Tampa - so decided I could get it when I arrived in Orlando. Once the crew started setting the room, I took off to the Concierge - to see if they could help me locate a broom. We decided that a Hardware store would be our best bet. This Concierge person was great! But we were in hysterics - as he kept trying to describe the broom dimensions - over the phone. He was Spanish - so his accent didn't help ... but provided us with lots of giggles. Because the Hotel we were at was pretty remote (at the time) - and we were a half hour away from anything ... it was really not an easy task.

We finally found a store - 1/2 hour away - that had a broom that met the specs - and I headed out to get it. Purchase made ... headed back to the Hotel. Mission accomplished.

The next day - I meet with Freddy's Manager ... we make sure he is happy with all of 'the stuff' we had to set up ... and I 'presented' the broom - making sure he knew how much trouble it was for me to get that particular broom. He couldn't care - at all. He said it was fine. Just ... fine! Not ... great! I was disappointed - after all of my effort! I expected appreciation. He - just expected.

Anyway - that night - Fred Travelina comes on stage to perform ... gets sick ... and cuts the act short! He doesn't use the broom!! I couldn't believe it! After all of my trouble - he didn't even stay long enough to use the broom! I couldn't help but make a big deal about it - because - well - that's the way I am (ha ha).

The Manager comes up to me ... and I am politely asking how Freddy is doing (mock concern - of course) - then I can't resist telling the Manager that I couldn't believe Freddy didn't use the broom - and that I thought I should at least get an autograph on it - for all of my trouble. I was seriously joking. Seriously! Because - remember - not only do I not do photos back then ... I definitely do NOT do autographs!

Later - the Manager comes up to me and said that Freddy would like me to come to his room. So ... my P.A. and I went (because I wasn't really 'into' him - and wasn't going alone - ha ha). We get to his room - and not only Freddy - but his entire team (Manager, band, etc.) - had signed the broom! It was SO funny! We cracked up over that! And - he was very nice. Very upset that he got sick (ate something bad, I think) ... and had agreed to make it up to the client - by performing at their next event - in Acapulco. Anyway - that made my night ... and the Client just loved it ... and I loved having that broom with all of those autographs!

That broom sat in the corner of my office for years ... and allowed for many 're-tellings' of that funny story ... to anyone who would listen. : )

When we went to Acapulco - Freddy was going to be there to perform. By then - I knew who he was ... and had seen him on T.V. and realized that he really was well-known. So ... I'm thinking he's not going to even remember me when we get on-site. To my surprise - the Client comes up to me and says that Freddy is out at the Cocktail Reception - and that I have to come say 'Hi' to him - because he wants to know if 'The Broom Lady' is there (ha ha). So ... I go say 'Hi' - and we all laughed over the broom story - again. And ... I still laugh when I think about it.

So ... here's the weird thing. I was getting ready to write about the broom story - when I heard on T.V. tonight - someone mention Fred Travelina. Now - isn't THAT strange!?!

Okay - So ... do you have 'a broom story'? Please share!!

Hope you guys have a great day!!

Later!

Brenda aka 'The Broom Lady'

Hey again! Here is something funny/interesting/strange. After writing about 'The Broom' ... and Fred Travelina - I decided to go online and see what he was up to these days. Would you believe - he is going to be at Ruth Eckerd Hall here in this area (Clearwater) performing on 3/18/07. I think that is so - well - curious. What are the odds?

Anyway ... just thought that was interesting.

Okay - that's it for me for tonight. Off to watch 'Medium' and 'Lost'. : )

Have a good one!

Hello Brenda!! Great Photos!! I have one...me with a famous womans Chauffeur...yup. First thing he said was..you must be from the Midwest...(In Jupiter we all left the famous to do their shopping etc...but I could NOT resist having my picture taken with her Limo Driver) Anyway...I figure the best memories are ones I take with my mind, and keep them there. They are all filed away to draw upon from time to time. The ones in the boxes...can't find 'em. LOL.

I will be traveling to your Sunny State later this summer for my Grandaughters Ballet Recital...

Met up with Marty in Arizona, (we had such a great time) my sons wedding was in Fountain Hills....and my Florida Grandaughter was the Flower Girl...

Been super busy with school this term...both classes have been a lot of reading and homework. And work has been exhausting...another record Month on the books...

But the snow has melted, and spring is trying ever so hard to pop thru rainy foggy days. Birds are chirping...so I do hope that no more snow falls on our state, but this is Iowa...you never know.
